Pokemon, The Only Reason to Buy a Gameboy...

Don't judge me but I have been playing Pokemon for over a decade now on my Gameboy colour (GBC). I know, I know people have told me to upgrade my handheld in the past but I have been content for a long while.

The main reason why I still play my GBC is because of Pokemon, I think it was one of the greatest games ever. Initially I had Pokemon Red Version but sadly I lost it several years ago. Soon after I got Pokemon Gold Version and I haven't looked back since. It's funny because that is the only game I have for my GBC but don't care, it's just that good. I have realized that Pokemon games are a good enough reason to buy a Gameboy. The game has all the elements I like, having some side missions so the game is not too linear, turn based combat and grind, lots and lots of grind. So when the 3DS comes out I will probably retire my GBC and make the shift into the "next gen" handheld scene, by now you could probably guess what game will be the first I will purchase.

  1. I agree! I have had my love for pokemon for just about 13 years now and my cousin would always tell me "once you go to high school you're going to forget all about pokemon." well im almost done with college and i keep my gameboy equipped in my bag and my pikachu's are found throughout my apartment!

I originally had blue version and i left it on the counter of blockbuster inside the giant original fat gameboy. i came back and my gameboy was still there but with no game inside :( but then i got red, yellow, silver, crystal, and ruby. really i only liked the first two games. my grama continued to buy me all of them though :p

  5. I would play original blue and yellow for hours. Kids at school would make fun of me, but I had to tell them it was different than the card game that the 4th graders were playing (:

  6. lol you were definitely right, I collected the cards as well but I never played the card game properly. As a matter of fact I still have my rarest cards including my holographic Charizard and the Mew-two card from the movie
